The German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft, the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka, played a pivotal role during World War II. With its distinctive features, including gull wings, a split undercarriage, and mounted wailing sirens dubbed the "Jericho Trumpet," the Stuka was instrumental in the early Blitzkrieg victories and became a symbol of German air power.

The Stuka had a two-man crew who could drop bombs with remarkable accuracy. It was equipped with innovative dive brakes to slow the dive and give the pilot more time to aim the bomb, as well as an automatic pull-up system to prevent g-induced blackouts.

Although the Stuka was highly effective against ground and naval targets, it proved no match for faster enemy fighters as the war progressed. Towards the end of the conflict, the Ju 87 was primarily used as a low-altitude ground attack aircraft and surrendered at Furth in May 1945.
